The new Pet Shop Boys album, called “Elysium”, will be released in September, and to give us a flavour of how it will sound, a video for the song Invisible has been released (it should be embedded below).
I’ve read a lot of negative comments about the song, but I actually really like it. It’s different to “Yes”, their previous album, and has more of an after-hours party feel to it. Chris Lowe has said previously, that they react against their last album when they release a new one. “Fundamental” was political, “Yes” was upbeat, so I’m predicting that “Elysium” will be more chilled. I, for one, can’t wait until it’s released.
The video was created by Brian Bress, and has quite an arty feel to it. It reminds me of the Home and Dry video – fans (generally) hated it, yet it was shown in Selfridges in London as an art installation. I don’t know whether Invisible will be a single, or whether this is the actual promotional video for it, but I hope you enjoy it.
